Hearts on Fire: Igniting Generosity for Priestly Formation

 

At the heart of every thriving faith community are those who give selflessly in prayer, and in support of the next generation of leaders. The Hearts on Fire campaign at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary is one of the most important ways supporters can make that investment.

What Is the Hearts on Fire Appeal?

Hearts on Fire is an annual fundraising appeal that provides crucial support for the general operations of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary (IHMS). Unlike a specific project campaign or capital drive, this appeal funds the daily life and mission of the seminary. It’s the seminary’s largest source of funding, helping cover essential costs such as:

• Room and board for seminarians
• Academic and formation resources
• Upkeep of seminary facilities and grounds
• Programs that foster spiritual growth and discernment

The Hearts on Fire appeal helps lift some of the weight of financial burden so formators and seminarians can focus on discernment and formation.

Why Your Support Matters

As IHMS rector, Fr. Jason Kern states, IHMS is essential to the mission of the Church... It is an utmost responsibility to form men for service in the Church, and God continues to call men to discern His will and follow Him.”  Forming young priests cannot happen without resources. Every gift given through Hearts on Fire helps ensure the seminary can continue its mission of forming men who are ready to serve parishes, schools, and communities with dedication and love.

This campaign also connects donors personally with seminarians, especially through events like the Bishops and Rector Dinner, where supporters get to know the seminarians and experience the true joy of the IHMS community firsthand.

How to Donate

Generosity looks different for everyone, and there are multiple ways to make an impact through Hearts on Fire:

1. Online Giving Through the Catholic Foundation of Southern Minnesota

The Catholic Foundation of Southern Minnesota (CFSM) helps manage donations on behalf of IHMS. Donors can give through the CFSM donation webpage. Contact CFSM directly for assistance or more information by emailing info@catholicfsmn.org or calling 507-858-1275.

2. Mail or Offline Gifts

Checks or other offline contributions can be mailed or delivered to CFSM with a note designating Hearts on Fire. This option is great for those who prefer traditional methods or are supporting through parish or diocesan giving channels.
