We’re a Vehicle to Help You Give

We offer a variety of charitable tools designed to make giving simple, flexible, and meaningful. We work alongside you, your family, and your professional advisors to structure gifts that reflect your goals and your Catholic values

Give Today: Open a New Fund

Give Tomorrow: Plan Your Gift

Creating a fund with the Catholic Foundation today allows you to shape how and where your charitable dollars are used, both now and in the future.   Planned giving allows you to build generosity into your long-term financial and estate plans. These gifts often provide tax advantages while creating your legacy of faith and service. More resources on Planned Giving here.

Donor Advised Fund

A Donor Advised Fund allows you to recommend grants to parishes, schools, and Catholic ministries over time. You receive an immediate charitable tax benefit while maintaining the flexibility to support causes as needs arise.

Bequests

A bequest is one of the simplest ways to make a planned gift. By naming The Catholic Foundation of Southern Minnesota in your will or trust, you can support Catholic causes without affecting your current financial security.

Donor Designated Fund

A donor designated fund provides short-term or ongoing support to a specific parish, school, or Catholic organization. Your gift ensures consistent funding for the ministry you choose, aligned with your long-term vision.

Retirement Accounts

You may choose to name the Catholic Foundation as a beneficiary of any retirement accounts. Retirement accounts are typically designed to be used during retirement so are subject to high taxes upon your passing. Donating to charity can prevent a large tax implication.

If you choose to use this tool, please contact us in advance so that we can be sure to direct your gift to your desired beneficiaries or cause(s).

Endowed Fund

You may choose to make your donor designated fund an endowed fund. An endowed fund is designed to provide permanent support to a particular beneficiary or any Catholic cause in our area. The principal is invested, and annual distributions are used to sustain the ministries and missions you care about for generations to come.

Charitable Life Insurance

You may choose to name the Catholic Foundation as a beneficiary or owner of a life insurance policy. This option can create a meaningful future gift, often with minimal cost during your lifetime.

If you choose to use this tool, please contact us in advance so that we can be sure to direct your gift to your desired beneficiaries or cause(s).

More About Giving Through the Foundation

If you're not sure how exactly you'd like to do your charitable giving, that's okay! We pride ourselves on being straightforward and supportive of bringing your charitable goals to life. Our process typically follows five simple steps:

  1. We Listen. We begin with a conversation to understand your charitable goals and passions.
  2. You Choose. Select the giving options that best fit your needs
  3. We Steward. We accept your gift and ensure it is managed with Catholic integrity
  4. We Distribute. Funds are granted in accordance with the restrictions and purposes you selected
  5. See your generosity make a lasting impact. Ministries you care about benefit from your gift and high investment returns without any administrative burden.

Non-Cash Giving Options

Many donors choose to give assets beyond cash. These gifts can offer additional tax benefits and allow you to give in ways that align with your overall financial picture.
