Well Done, Good & Faithful Steward: Preparing your Legacy with Grace and Intention

Nicole Weninger -

Well Done, Good & Faithful Steward.

Partnering with St. Mary’s Parish to help parishioners prepare with grace & intention

As Catholics, we are called to be good stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us—our time, talent, and treasure. Planning for the future—especially at the end of life—can be an act of love, responsibility, and faith. That’s why St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield, MN is hosting a two-part Seminar Series, titled Well Done, Good & Faithful Steward: Preparing your Legacy with Grace and Intention. The Seminar series is designed to guide individuals and families through the practical and spiritual aspects of the later years.

Part One: Faith, Planning, and the Peace of Preparation

Saturday, November 8, 2025 | 10:00 AM
St. Mary’s Catholic Church – Chatfield, MN

Part One of the seminar series lays a strong foundation in both Catholic moral teaching and the practical steps needed to begin estate planning. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to update existing plans, this session offers essential insights for couples, individuals and families alike.

Session 1: Living in Faith in Retirement and the Final Chapter
With Fr. Nicholas Gawarecki
Fr. Nicholas will offer a compassionate and clear explanation of Catholic spiritual teaching related to later years. He’ll explore what the Church teaches about topics such as Heaven as the Goal, available spiritual aids as death approaches such as Anointing of the Sick and Last Rights, and living in holiness in your Golden Years. The session also covers Virtues and Vices, helping you recognize and follow the path of faith.

Session 2: Ways to Think About Charitiable Giving and Estate Planning
With Elizabeth Williams, CFSM
Elizabeth talk about the different options for creating a legacy - from a typical estate plan to gifts today such as gifts of stock or grain, or chartiable giving. Then she will guide you through the first steps of building a strong estate plan - something for everyone - no matter what your financial situation. She’ll explain the value of having a solid estate planning team, including professionals like attorneys and tax advisors. You’ll also receive a record-keeping workbook and learn how to begin organizing your records and documents so your loved ones are prepared and informed.

Part Two: Building a Legacy that Lasts

Coming January 2026 — Exact Date TBD

In Part Two, we’ll take a deeper dive into the tools and strategies that can help you build a meaningful legacy rooted in faith. This session, led collectively with Elizabeth Williams, a local tax attorney, and a local tax advisor, will be especially helpful for those looking to understand the "how" of estate planning, with the guidance of professionals who can answer your questions in real time. An estate planning guidebook will be provided.

  • How to Create a Well-Designed Estate Plan will walk you through what a comprehensive estate plan includes, why every adult needs one, and how to tailor yours to meet your family’s needs and values.
  • Why Trusts Matter and When to Use Them will demystify trusts—what they are, how they work, and how they can help protect your assets, avoid probate, or support charitable giving.
  • Use Your Plan to Change the World will show how your estate plan can reflect your Catholic values and support ministries, schools, or causes you love. You'll leave with a renewed sense of how your legacy can truly bless future generations.

Why Attend?

Planning for the future is not easy—but it is holy. Taking the time to understand Catholic teaching, organize your affairs, and plan your legacy is one of the most loving and responsible gifts you can give your family.
